Departing our lakeside Te Anau base, soar above the Waiau River, which links Te Anau to Manapouri. This waterway had the starring role of the River Anduin, making its debut as the Fellowship paddled south from Lothlorien. The mountains that surround the Waiau represented the rougher landscapes just south of Rivendell.
From here we change direction to the beautiful Nor West Lakes for a beautifully scenic landing. You’ll soon see why its no wonder Fiordland was a key region for filming the landscapes of Middle-Earth.
