An exciting mix of flights, hiking and cycling, this is an awesome day out for couples, friends, families or those with a keen interest in photography. Visiting locations as diverse as Mount Titiroa, Green Lake and Fiordland National Park, this is an active Fiordland day that gives you a taste of how the locals like to enjoy their backyard.
Departing our Te Anau base we leave the shores of Lake Te Anau and follow the Waiau River. Flying over Lake Manapouri the flight path takes you over a geological marvel, Mt Titiroa, which from a distance looks capped in snow. We will make a landing here so you can get a close up view of the magnificent and unique huge white granite formations and small lakes that are visible from the air. Our next stop is Green Lake itself where you and your guide will disembark at the starting point for the hike back to Borland Road. Green Lake Hut sits at the far end of the tussock covered shoreline. From here the track descends through native bush and open tussock clearings with a glimpse of Island Lake before reaching Borland Road. This is an easy walk of approximately 3 hours duration.
At this point your mountain bikes will be waiting to embark on a ride which is packed full of amazing sights and stories as it runs along the power lines fed by the Manapouri Power Station deep in Fiordland National Park. Take a selfie with some of New Zealand’s most spectacular flora and fauna and enjoy your gourmet lunch somewhere along the way! When your ride is complete you will be transferred by Wild Rides comfortable 4WD utility vehicle back to Te Anau.
